A rare 18th century painted wood doll.
SOLD FOR £ 15,000
Although it is hard to find collectible pieces in this rather niche market when they do appear the prices are invariably in excess of expectations. Some areas are now 'Out of Bounds', such as the early Jaques Staunton pattern chess set shown here in the background, which was numbered 75 and dated to circa 1850. It brought £ 18,000 some years ago but sadly would not now comply with the latest legislation regarding selling ivory.
A rare French 'Peasant and Pig' musical automaton, by Gustave Vichy, circa 1895, for restoration.
SOLD FOR £ 10,500
