A fine 19th century Chinese gourd cricket cage of moulded octagonal baluster form,
the eight panels variously carved with prunus, peonies, chrysanthemums & other flowers,
the tall ivory cover carved with nine free moving squirrels among fruiting grape vines,
with ivory collar & footrim,
the underside with indistinct moulded 4-character mark,
6.5ins. (16.5cms.) high.
